So what is a simple text link?  A simple text link is typically one or two text "anchor" words with a hypertext link to your website.   Search Engine Optimization specialist are starting to call these "Out-Of-Context" links, i.e. they are not embedded into true contextual content.

The key to a good high quality link is "contextual" linking - often referred to as the Contextual Text or paragraph or page of text that the link is embedded on.

Search engines will rate the quality of your links based on the content subject of the page that is linking to you as well as the content subject of the page that the link actually links to.

Simply put, if you have a website about Diamond Rings like www.DiamondsFAQ.com, you would prefer to receive links from a page that is about diamonds and anchor text about diamonds, rather than a page that is about auto mechanics.
